Get on the gridThe car
One spec. Sealed. Scrutineered.
Every car in the Trophy is a Mk4 Mazda MX-5 built to the same control specification, on the same Goodyear hard compound slick. No development race, no budget arms race. What you bring is setup, tyre management and the ability to overtake.
Slicks are controlled to six sets for the whole season. That caps what anyone can spend their way to, and it makes looking after a set part of the job rather than an afterthought. Qualifying on fresh rubber is a decision with a cost, not a default. A Goodyear wet is available as well, so a soaked weekend does not come out of your dry allocation.
ABS, traction control and a ZF sequential gearbox are part of that specification. The car is modern rather than raw, so a missed downshift does not end your afternoon. That makes it a realistic first car for a driver straight out of an ARDS test, and still quick enough to be worth the time of someone who has raced for years.
For 2027 the Trophy runs on the BRSCC MX-5 SuperCup grid, scored as its own championship. You share the track with the SuperCup Mk3 cars, but not the championship. Different car, different tyre, your own results and your own title. From 2028 the Trophy takes its own slot on the BRSCC roster.

Common questions
What is the MX-5 Mk4 Trophy?
A one make racing championship for the Mk4 (ND) Mazda MX-5, run with the BRSCC on UK circuits. Every car is built to a single sealed control specification and runs the same control tyre, so the result comes down to the driver rather than the budget.
When does the championship start?
The first season runs in 2027, on the BRSCC MX-5 SuperCup grid. From 2028 the Trophy takes its own slot on the BRSCC roster.
What car do you race in the MX-5 Mk4 Trophy?
A Mk4 (ND) Mazda MX-5 built to one sealed control specification, fitted with ABS, traction control and a ZF sequential gearbox.
What tyres does the championship use?
Goodyear is the championship tyre partner. Cars run a Goodyear hard compound control slick, with a Goodyear wet available. Slicks are controlled to six sets for the whole season.
Do I need a racing licence?
Yes. You need an ARDS test and an MSUK National licence. The ARDS test takes a day at a circuit and you can book it before you have a car or a seat.
Where does the MX-5 Mk4 Trophy race?
On UK circuits, following the BRSCC MX-5 SuperCup calendar. The 2027 dates are published here as soon as the BRSCC release them.
Is the MX-5 Mk4 Trophy the same as the BRSCC MX-5 SuperCup?
No. The SuperCup is for Mk3 MX-5s. The Trophy is for Mk4 cars on their own control tyre, scored as a separate championship with its own results and its own title. For 2027 the two share a grid, but not a championship.
What does a season cost?
It depends on whether you hire a seat for the weekend or run a car of your own. Rather than quote a figure that will not match your situation, tell us your budget and what seat time you have had and we will be straight with you.
Tell us where you are and we will tell you what it takes.
No obligation. A phone call, an honest budget, and an introduction to a team with a seat free.
